Microsoft Office is one of the most essential programs on your device. It is a package of various essential tools. Users can install Word or PowerPoint as a single program or can get all these tools in one Office package. MS Office provides the new features on its upgraded plan. If you are using the 2013 setup of Office then upgrade it to use more advanced features.

When the user has Office 365; he can easily upgrade the package from the setup or can use Microsoft’s website. If your Office 365 is running on the 2013 version then you may get the upgrade notification along with the updates. Whenever you see the upgrade notification; tap on it.   2. Open your account
  3. Tap on the install button 
  4. Download setup prompt will appear on the screen
  5. Tap on the Office setup file 

Now the user has to wait as the installation takes like 5 to 10 minutes to upgrade the setup to the latest version. After completing the installation, open any of the Office programs. Go to home and tap on the File option. Click on Account and now you can check the Office version on the setup.

Use regedit.exe to open the registry editor

Type HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> SOFTWARE> Microsoft> Windows NT> CurrentVersion> AppCompatFlags. Now the user has to get the backup of this key. After creating a backup; remove this key from the App Store. Now you should retry to upgrade your Office version.

Check the internet

For the setup upgrade, users will require smooth internet. People often try to install the upgrade on an unstable internet connection and get the error. Even if the other pages are loading; it doesn’t mean that the internet is smooth. Users should run the speed test on the browser. Upgrade your Office only when the connection is stable. Also, users should connect the system to a secured network while updating or upgrading the setup.

Scan your computer

Your Office can show the running or upgrading error due to the malware infection. When the device has viruses or other malware; they start interrupting your other processes. Users should check for the virus infection as they can also corrupt your various functions. Run the Windows Defender on the system and scan the whole device. You can also use the personal antivirus for detecting and removing malware. After scanning the whole system; restart it and then open your Windows Office. Run the upgrade process and check for the error.

Update your OS

Some programs and functions of the system will start showing errors while making changes if the OS is outdated. When the update for the OS is available; you will get the notification. In case you forget to update the setup and it is running outdated then update it immediately. Go to your Update and Security page and then hit the Update button. It will start installing and the user has to wait for some time. Restart the device to apply update changes. Open MS Office and check for the upgrade.

 Users can face errors when some of the MS Office files are not working correctly. Users should try running the Office repair tool. It will check for the possible issues and then repair them. If the Office is still showing the error then you may have to reinstall the whole setup on the device.
