OLA S1 X: All You Need to Know

The Bangalore-based automotive manufacturer added another iteration to their portfolio, the Ola S1 X. It has replaced the Ola S1 Air to be an entry-level offering. Having said that, the Ola S1 X’s price starts at Rs 89,999 and goes up to Rs 1,09,999. All are ex-showroom figures.

Apart from that, this newly added offering is available in two configurations. It has a 2 kWh battery pack alongside a 3 kWh battery pack option. That said, this homegrown electric two-wheeler has three variants in total: 2 kWh, 3 kWh and 3 kWh Plus.

So, if you are strict on budget and are looking for an indigenous electric two-wheeler, the Ola S1 X is something you can consider. Let’s read on, then.

Specifications

Before we start, you can check out the curated list of Ola scooters that have different offerings on the autoX website.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Ola S1 X can either be had with a 2 kWh or a 3 kWh battery pack. The bigger the battery pack, the better the range. However, at the same time, these two battery packs have an identical output, giving a peak power of 6000 W. As per the manufacturer, this electric two-wheeler can do 0 to 40 km/h in 3.3 seconds.

Ola S1 X

The indigenous automotive manufacturer used a tubular chassis and metal sheet to produce their entry-level offering.

Despite the same output, there is a difference in their top speeds. The 2 kWh iteration has a top speed of 85 km/h, while the 3 kWh has a top speed of 90 km/h.

In terms of range, the small battery pack version has a claimed range of 91 km, while the large battery pack version has a claimed range of 151 km. As you may know, there is a range of Ola bikes that are offered with different features and battery packs.

Furthermore, the company claims that the Ola S1 X takes 7.4 hours to fully replenish the battery, irrespective of the capacity of the battery pack.

Besides that, all three variants have three riding modes: Eco, Normal and Sports. In addition, it is worth noting that the performance might vary from mode to mode. And, except for the top-most variant, which has a digital key, the other two remaining variants have a physical key only.

Moreover, this electric scooter has a portable charger. The output of the charger is rated at 350 W.

Brakes and Suspension Setups

The Ola S1 X stands on a twin telescopic fork at the front and a dual shock absorber at the rear. It is, however, worth mentioning that most homegrown vehicles are engineered by keeping the conditions of Indian roads in mind. That said, you can expect a soft suspension as that type of tuned suspension can soak the bumps and undulations with ease.

At the same time, the braking duties are taken care of by dual drum brakes. But considering the S1 price, the company should have atleast offered a disc-drum setup. These drum brakes can be seen through the standard steel wheels.

For added safety, the Ola S1 X boasts a combined braking system. This safety offering can drastically decrease the chances for the two-wheeler to make a stoppie or skidding, especially during an emergency braking.

 Weight and Dimensions

As far as the proportions are concerned, the Ola S1 X has a length of 1860mm, a width of 850mm, and a height of 1298mm, and it sits on a wheelbase of 1359mm. Apart from that, the seat height of this homegrown electric two-wheeler is 805mm. In addition, depending on the variant, the kerb weight of 2 kWh and 3 kWh iterations are also different, rated at 101 kg and 108 kg, respectively.

As for the under-seat storage, it has a capacity of 34 litres.

Last, but not least, the Ola 1 X’s ground clearance is rated at 160mm, which is suitable for Indian roads.

Features

The Ola S1 X has a 3.5-inch segmented LED display, which is available in the base and mid variants, whereas the 5-inch segmented LED display is available in the top-most variant only.

Besides that, this electric scooter incorporates a side-stand alert, a reverse mode, GPS and navigation, predictive maintenance, cruise control, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. Other notable features include an electric start/stop button, a park assist, a pass light, LED DRLs, an LED headlight, an LED tail light, an LED brake light, and LED indicators. It also offers a low battery indicator, call/SMS alerts and a digital clock.
